The fourth of five men arrested following last summer’s robbery of a service station in Naperville has been sentenced to two years in prison for his part in that crime.

Victor D. Pulphus Jr., 20, last lived on the 2500 block of Eldorado Lane, in the Woodlake area of Naperville’s far southwest side. He was arrested or ticketed seven times between 2007 and 2009 on charges that included sexual abuse and battery.

Pulphus pleaded guilty to a felony charge of theft for his role in the late-night Sept. 12 robbery of the Mobil station at 75th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road in central Naperville. Charges of robbery and burglary were dismissed in exchange for that plea, according to records on file in DuPage County Circuit Court in Wheaton.

Judge Blanche Hill Fawell on Friday accepted Pulphus’ plea and imposed his prison term, giving him 122 days of credit toward his sentence for time he has spent in jail since being arrested, court records showed.

Fawell also placed Pulphus on a year of mandatory supervised release and assessed fines and court costs totaling $345, records indicated.

Police arrested Pulphus in the robbery, along with Mack C. Lumpkins Jr., 19, of Chicago; Andrew L. Mathis, 30, of the 1300 block of Modaff Road in central Naperville; Christopher C. Partin, 24, of the 500 block of Fessler Avenue in Naperville; and Claude L. Shaw, 19, of Chicago.

A clerk at the station told police she was accosted by three men wearing black bandanas over their faces. Cigarettes, bottled iced tea and snack foods, among other goods, were stolen during the incident, a police spokesman said in September.

Police searched the area east of the station and eventually went to the Fessler Avenue address where Partin lives. There, they found a red, 1998 Dodge Durango with two men seated inside it.

Those men matched the description the clerk had given police of two of the robbers. All five suspects soon after were rounded up and arrested.

Mathis on Dec. 2 was found guilty of robbery and sentenced to six months in jail. Lumpkins and Shaw were convicted Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, respectively, with Lumpkins receiving a 100-day jail sentence and Shaw a 180-day term.

Partin is an ex-convict. His case has been continued to Feb. 22.

Pulphus was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly fondling a 13-year-old girl in January 2009 in an unincorporated area of Will County.

He has been cited six other times on charges of battery and fighting, according to court records.
