Carlton Fisk lawyers asking judge to toss evidence in DUI case

White Sox great Carlton Fisk’s lawyer is trying to fight the suspension of his driver’s license and suppress evidence in his drunken driving case.
Attorney Stephen White filed some routine motions in Fisk’s case and appeared in court Thursday on Fisk’s behalf.
The Secretary of State’s office will suspend Fisk’s license for 12 months starting Dec. 7 because he refused to take tests to confirm his blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest.
The Baseball Hall of Famer did not appear in court, and White said he would keep Fisk away from the courthouse as much as possible.
On Oct. 22, several passing motorists told New Lenox police about a Ford pickup that had left the road and gone into a field at Gougar and Spencer roads.
Fisk, 64, who was a catcher for the Sox and the Boston Red Sox, was behind the wheel and unconscious when a New Lenox police officer found him and recognized him, police said. There was an open bottle of vodka in the truck, police said.
He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for an examination, police said.
After he was discharged from the hospital, Fisk was charged with drunken driving, transportation of open alcohol and improper lane use.
After posting a $300 bond at the police station, he was released from custody and was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 29, though White had asked that the court date be moved up to Thursday.
Records indicate that Fisk lives in Bradenton, Fla., but has also owned residences in New Lenox and Lockport.
