A Chicago man has been arrested and charged with stealing a number of items from employees and patients at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Tyrese K. Watson, 27, of Chicago, has been charged with burglary in connection with the incidents at Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St.

At 4:18 p.m. Thursday, Naperville police were called to the hospital for a theft in progress. Edward Hospital security staff discovered a male black subject who had stolen personal items from employees and patients in the hospital.

The suspect fled in a maroon 1998 Ford Explorer. Watson drove to a gas station in the area of Washington Street and Gartner Road, where he proceeded to use a stolen credit card to purchase gas and cigarettes, police said. Watson then left the area.

A follow-up investigation led detectives to the 7300 block of South Cicero Avenue in Bedford Park. Detectives observed the suspect at a local business using stolen credit cards to purchase gift cards. With the assistance of the Bedford Park Police Department, Watson was apprehended.

Items stolen from Edward Hospital were located in the suspect’s vehicle, police said.

Watson was taken back to the Naperville Police Department, where he was charged with burglary. He was later transported to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained Saturday night.
