Man jailed for $30k theft from business

Roberto C. Borias, 39, is serving a sentence of 45 days of periodic imprisonment in DuPage County Jail for stealing $30,000 worth of computer equipment from the company in Naperville where he once worked.

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for stealing $30,000 worth of computer hardware three years ago from the business in Naperville where he worked.
Roberto C. Borias was convicted on a felony charge of theft or obtaining unauthorized control over money or property valued at more than $10,000 but less than $100,000.
Borias last lived in southwest suburban Oak Lawn. He pleaded guilty Sept. 28 to the charge in DuPage County Circuit Court.
Judge Daniel P. Guerin on Dec. 7 sentenced Borias to 45 days of periodic imprisonment, and also placed him on two years of probation.
Property crimes detectives from the Naperville Police Department’s Major Crimes Division began investigating Borias in September 2009, police Sgt. Lou Cammiso said Monday. That followed a complaint from the owners of a computer software company on the 300 block of East Diehl Road on the city’s far north side that Cammiso declined to identify.
Borias was working for the company at that time, Cammiso said. Company officials in 2009 told police they suspected Borias had begun stealing from them, he said.
The police investigation concluded on Aug. 31, 2010, when the theft charge was filed. Cammiso said detectives determined Borias stole an estimated $30,000 worth of computer hardware from the company, he said.
