Police arrest Naperville man in explosion at neighbor’s home

A Naperville man was charged Thursday with two felony counts in the case of an explosive device that damaged a home in his southeast Naperville neighborhood last fall.
Mark A. Hoen, 22, of the 400 block of Prairie Knoll Drive, turned himself in at the Naperville Police Department, Sgt. Lou Cammiso said Friday morning. He was charged with residential arson, a class 1 felony, and criminal damage to property, a class 4 felony.
Police came out to a home in the 300 block of Prairie Knoll after an explosion in the entry way awoke the homeowners at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 30. No one was injured, but the device left the door and front of the house significantly damaged, police said.
In a press release sent Friday morning, police Cmdr. Brian Cunningham said the department was led to Hoen as the suspect after an investigation. Paul Darrah, spokesman for DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, said an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday.
Bail was set at $10,000. Hoen was released after posting a 10 percent bond.
Darrah said Hoen is due in Judge Blanche Fawell’s Wheaton courtroom for his arraignment at 9 a.m. Feb. 26.
