Hotel guest sentenced in Naperville cocaine case

Juarez R. Monegain, 62, of Willowbrook, has been ordered to perform community service work and spend two years on probation, after being found guilty of possessing cocaine last summer in a Naperville hotel room.

A man from Willowbrook has been ordered to perform community service as part of his sentence in a Naperville cocaine-possession case.
Juarez R. Monegain, 62, pleaded guilty in DuPage County Circuit Court to a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, court records showed. A charge of promoting prostitution was dismissed.
Judge Robert G. Kleeman on Feb. 5 ordered Monegain to perform 30 hours of public service work. Kleeman also placed Monegain on two years of probation.
Naperville police arrested Monegain about 9:18 p.m. Aug. 24 in his room in a hotel on the city’s northeast side.
A police spokesman last summer said an officer stopped at the hotel after seeing what appeared to be two women standing near a parked vehicle. “Further investigation determined the individuals were transgendered men” believed to be involved in prostitution, the spokesman said.
Police were directed to Monegain’s hotel room, the spokesman said. After speaking with him, they found “a small baggie containing a white powdery substance” that proved to be cocaine with an estimated street sale value of about $100, the spokesman said.
The two transgendered men were not arrested “based on information learned in the investigation,” the spokesman said.
