Local man arrested twice in 10 days sentenced to jail

A Naperville man who was arrested twice in 10 days last summer on drunken-driving charges has been ordered to spend 12 weekends in DuPage County Jail in one of those cases.
Donald R. Limmer pleaded guilty in DuPage County Circuit Court to a reduced charge of reckless driving in connection with the Sept. 12 incident, Assistant Naperville City Attorney Mike DiSanto said. Several other traffic-related charges were dismissed.
Judge James J. Konetski accepted Limmer’s plea and on Feb. 19 ordered him to serve one, three-day weekend in jail for 12 months, DiSanto said. Konetski also placed Limmer on two years of conditional discharge, a form of probation.
DiSanto said the judge further ordered Limmer to undergo intensive alcohol abuse counseling, appear before a county crime victim impact panel and continue attending meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous. Limmer was also ordered to pay $2,500 in fines and court costs.
Limmer, 29, lives on the 700 block of North Loomis Street on Naperville’s north side. He was arrested both times by the same city police officer.
The Sept. 12 incident occurred about 11:58 p.m. at Aurora Avenue and Fort Hill Drive, near the Westridge Court shopping center. A police spokesman last year said a “concerned citizen” called 911, after Limmer was seen driving on the wrong side of the road.
Limmer was arrested again about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 22 near the Crate & Barrel warehouse at Jefferson Avenue and Ambassador Drive, just a few blocks from the scene of his first arrest. He was driving a blue, 1998 Dodge Neon at a speed of 42 mph in a 30-mph zone, the spokesman said.
“Once stopped, the officer involved recognized Limmer” from the earlier arrest, the spokesman said.
Court records showed Limmer on Dec. 18 was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield to emergency vehicles in the Sept. 22 case. Konetski ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service work and placed him on two years of court supervision in that matter, according to records.
