Reward is offered in Corner Pantry burglary

Naperville police are appealing to the public for help in solving the recent burglary of a convenience food store in the University Heights neighborhood.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man who dropped through the ceiling and into the Corner Pantry at 1801 Wehrli Road.

The break-in occurred during the early-morning hours of Jan. 9, according to a Crime Stopper release. The burglar forced open the rear, exterior door of an adjacent business, which is vacant, the release stated.

“Once inside, the offender broke through a common wall and dropped into the Corner Pantry through the ceiling,” the release continued.

Cigarettes, Illinois Lottery tickets “and a large amount of quarters and nickels that were still wrapped up in change rolls” were stolen, according to the release.

The burglar is described as being a white man between the ages of 18 and 25, and of average height and build. He wore dark-colored pants, an inside-out, gray hooded sweatshirt, white athletic shoes and ski goggles.

Witnesses to the burglary or those who believe they have information about the case were asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006. Callers can remain anonymous.
