The Naperville Park District’s Élan Dance Company will present their annual spring showcase at 6:30 p.m. March 22 at Naperville North High School Performing Arts Center, 899 N. Mill St.
Performances will feature original choreography by teachers and students, who benefit by one-to-one mentoring in choreography as part of their training in Élan Dance Company.
“We are excited that our graduating senior, Victoria Lee, will perform a contemporary dance solo, titled ‘For Their Sake,’ which she choreographed,” said artistic director Chesney Murphy.
Other featured pieces choreographed by Élan teachers include: “Blame It on the Boogie,” a high energy tap dance by Rita d’Escoto; “Compañera Eterna,” a masked folk ballet by Melissa Sallée; and “Melted Armor,” a modern dance filled with partnering work by Caroline Stevens.
Élan Dance Company is a program of the Naperville Park District and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
Tickets for the showcase may be purchased through the Naperville Park District at www.napervilleparks.org, 630-848-5000, or at the Park District administration building, 320 W. Jackson Ave.; or at the 95th Street Center, 2244 W. 95th St. Tickets are $8 in advance (through March 21) or $10 at the door.
