Snap on, snap off — let’s snap into spring mode with this fashion trend sure to create a buzz.
Ginger Snaps, exclusively sold at Naperville’s two Occasions gift stores, are small button-like jewelry pieces that literally snap onto and into necklaces, bracelets, rings and other accessories by the brand.
“What makes them great gifts is that they are affordable,” says Occasions founder and owner Donna Smith of the jewelry trend just introduced at their stores a few weeks ago.
“That’s what we are about, being unique,” she says.
The buttons, about the size of a quarter, come in all colors and materials.
“Crystals, jewels or metal, they are so versatile,” Smith says.
The bracelets are either silver-plated or leather, with adjustable toggle bolts. The snaps also fit onto rings, necklaces or scarf rings, all sold at Occasions, Smith adds.
At $7 a snap and only $20 to $25 a bracelet, these interchangeable fashion jewelry compositions make for great gifts or a fun fashion statement.
Occasions, a Naperville gift store first opened in 2007, is always looking to promote unique items, from glass birdhouses to fun napkins. They stumbled onto this affordable but fun jewelry trend at a gift show in Atlanta, produced by a Minneapolis company.
“The company, The Good Bead Company, are socially conscious, and we think that’s important and fits our own profile,” Smith says. “Some of their profit goes back to causes helping people in need.”
Stop in at either Occasions location, 3027 English Rows in south Naperville, or 121 S. Washington St. in downtown Naperville, to browse their available selection or catalog for special orders.
“Even though it doesn’t look like spring outside yet, our stores are already in full spring mode,” says Smith, adding that the snaps are the prefect little spring accessory.
