Enjoy it while it lasts — snow on the way overnight

The warmer temperatures Friday morning have many Chicagoans jumping for joy, but don’t call it spring just yet—up to an inch of snow is expected to cover the area overnight.

Highs will be in the low-to-mid-40s Friday, but increasing clouds and a cold front will move in Friday night, bringing light rain which will develop into light snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Up to an inch of snow could be on the ground Saturday morning and the temperature will only reach the mid-to-upper 30s, according to the weather service.

Sunday will be dry and warmer, with highs back in the upper 30s to low 40s, according to the weather service.

Monday will be even warmer, with highs expected to reach the upper 40s in northern Illinois and the upper 50s in central Illinois.
