The annual 360 Youth Services Spring Ahead run returns on May 4 with a new theme — “Let’s Celebrate Mom.” Read the full release below.

Last year when Elizabeth Gretz needed to find a way for one of her kids to burn off some energy after he had been diagnosed with ADHD, she started to have him run on a treadmill during the colder months.

Once the weather improved, they took to the outdoors and were then looking for a family activity they could do together. They decided to participate in the Kids Fun Run, which was part of the 360 Spring Ahead Run and they all said they loved it!  Gretz and her three kids; Calum, 11 years old, Jack 9 years old, and Elle 8 years old, have committed to getting more involved in various runs in the area, including participating again in this year’s 360 Spring Ahead Run.

On Sunday, May 4th, 360 Youth Services will be coordinating their 15th Annual Run hosted by their Presenting Sponsor Calamos Investments, located one block north of I-88 at Rt. 59. Runners from all over the area will participate in this event.

To add to the excitement of the morning a new theme has been added this year – “Let’s Celebrate Mom”!

“This is an amazing theme, and as a mother, I am touched and honored to be celebrated,” Gretz said. “It is also a great opportunity to spend time together as a family in a fun and healthy atmosphere and if we can support an amazing agency like 360 Youth Services, I could not ask for anything more!”

The Gretz Family loves to do many things together; all three kids are involved in scouting, Elle and Jack love to bake and they even started their own pet business.

If the Gretz Family had a wish for moms, they said “to just love and adore each other.”

“I am so grateful to be a mother of three amazing children,” said Gretz. “I do my best each and every day to take it all in, to also take the time to enjoy and celebrate each of the kids and to remind them hourly how much I love them. It’s an honor to fall within the ranks of other mothers.”

Gretz also wanted to encourage all the Moms in the area, or people who represent Moms, to join her and her kids on May 4th, to not only run with and for their Moms, but to help and support 360 Youth Services.

The 360 Spring Ahead – “Let’s Celebrate Mom” offers four different runs: a 10K Trail Run, 5K Street Run, 5K Wheelchair and a 1 Mile Kids Fun Run.

According to Pete Schubel, who is this year’s event chair, “We have the same great routes, easy in and out parking, and warmer weather! We are also planning some fun activities for Mom and their kids, so bring your families and run for Mom!”
