Police Blotter: Hit-and-run driver strikes Naperville fire hydrant

Tuesday, March 11

Unlicensed driver: Luan Dabeca, 28, 1100 block of Dickens Avenue; 12:05 a.m. near 1020 E. Ogden Ave.; charged with driving without a license and failure to yield at intersection.

Warrant: Sandra C. Salazar, 30, Aurora; 9:40 a.m. at 1290 S. Route 59; taken into custody on outstanding, $5,000 Kane County arrest warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Suspended license: Fernando A. Zavala, 25, Aurora; 10:57 a.m. near 1991 Brookdale Road; charged with driving with a suspended license.

ID theft: Nima Sobbizadeh, 30, Aurora; 2:37 p.m. on the 1500 block of West Ogden Avenue; charged with identity theft and credit card fraud; also taken into custody on two, outstanding arrest warrants.

Theft: A 52-year-old man reported about 3:48 p.m., home, work and car keys stolen from unsecured locker in men’s locker room at Kroehler Family YMCA of Greater Chicago, 34 S. Washington St.

Suspended license: Yahaira I. Vazquez, 18, Aurora; 8:23 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and Rickert Drive; charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and disobeying a traffic signal; passenger Ivan Carrazco, 21, Montgomery, charged with failure to wear a seat belt, and taken into custody on outstanding Will County arrest warrant.

Marijuana possession: Takenya L. Lucas, 26, Oswego; 9:24 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and Webster Street; charged with possession of marijuana, driving without insurance and failure to yield right of way while making left turn; also taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrant.

Warrant: Hamzah Rehan, 20, 2000 block of Wicklow Road; 11:28 p.m. near 95th Street and Nicole Drive; taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrant and later “released to other (police) agency.”

Vehicle damage: A 39-year-old man reported between 8 a.m. March 10 and 5 p.m., screwdriver or similar, sharp instrument used to make four punctures in sidewall of rear, passenger-side tire of vehicle parked outside a home on the 2700 block of Cripple Creek Court.

Wednesday, March 12

Hit and run/property damage: Before 11:32 a.m., hit-and-run motorist struck city of Naperville fire hydrant near the parking lot of Caputo’s Fresh Market, 3115 111th St.; hydrant was knocked off its mounting; repaired by city water department employees.

Theft: Elizabeth A. Russell, 59, 1300 block of Modaff Road; 12:54 p.m. near her home; charged with theft.
