Dilia

Age: 4 years old

Breed: Domestic short hair

Personality: Dilia is affectionate and enjoys attention. She has long silky hair and enjoys the socialization of primping with regular brushing. She would be OK in a home as the only pet or with a gentle easy going cat or dog. When she wants your love, she will reach out with her paw for your attention.

Other: Dilia is up to date on her vaccines, microchipped and spayed.

Adoption fee: $100

Where to find her: www.helpinganimals.org or 877-364-2286

TJ

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Orange domestic short hair

Background: TJ was left at ADOPT’s back door in a carrier in August 2012.

Personality: TJ has a personality as big as he is and is a giant love bug. He has a heart murmur that requires no treatment now, but should be monitored by his new veterinarian.

Adoption fee: $50

Other: All animals at ADOPT are vet checked, spayed or neutered, microchipped and are up to date on age-related vaccines.

Where to find this pet: ADOPT Pet Shelter, 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville, 630-355-2299 or www.adoptpetshelter.org.

TY

Age: 2-1/2 years old

Breed: Lab/husky mix

Background: His owner gave him up. TY is an ADOPT alumni returned in January.

Personality: He is a very active, playful and energetic boy who requires obedience training to learn some doggie manners — a fenced in yard (would be great) and plenty of exercise. We have been told he is housebroken and crate trained. Ty is a smart boy and has been working on some basic commands here at the shelter.

Adoption fee: $250

Where to find this pet: ADOPT Pet Shelter, 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville, 630-355-2299 or www.adoptpetshelter.org.

Tripper

Age: 6 months old

Breed: Beagle mix

Background: He was transferred from a shelter in Chicago.

Personality: Tripper is a high-energy, busy dog searching for a family that is just as active as he is. He loves to go for long runs and would make a great hiking partner once the weather gets nicer. Tripper is a dog that needs to stay busy, so physical exercise as well as mental exercise will be very important for him. Because he can be pretty rowdy, children in his new home should be a bit older and experienced with dogs.

Adoption fee: $200

Other: All animals at NAHS have been examined for health and temperament, are up-to-date on vaccines and have been microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption.

Where to find this pet: Naperville Area Humane Society, 1620 W. Diehl Road, Naperville, or www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Mistletoe

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Domestic long hair

Background: She was transferred from an overcrowded shelter in Oklahoma.

Personality: Mistletoe is a sweet, gentle cat in search of a quiet home where she can relax and be herself. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable around you, Mistletoe is very loving and affectionate. She gets along well with most other cats, and might do OK living with a calm, gentle dog. Because she can be nervous and shy at first, it would be best if children in Mistletoe’s new home are a little older and experienced with cats.

Adoption fee: $50

Other: All animals at NAHS have been examined for health and temperament, are up-to-date on vaccines and have been microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption.

Where to find this pet: Naperville Area Humane Society

Gwen

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Short-haired Calico

Background: Gwen has been in foster care since she was a kitten, along with her three sisters.

Personality: Gwen is a real sweetie. She is a gentle girl and loves to play with her sisters. She is always eager to be petted and follows her foster mom all over, looking for attention.

Adoption fee: $100

Other: Spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines

Where to find this pet: Paws and Purrs Humane Society, 630-897-8738, www.pawsandpurrs.org.

Whitey

Age: 5 months old

Breed: Beagle mix

Background: Whitey is a smart little puppy who loves to learn new tricks. He can already shake paws, sit and lie down — plus, he’s housebroken and crate-trained. Whitey adores running outside with his canine buddies and playing a good game of fetch with his human pals, both kids and adults. He walks well on a leash, too. Very outgoing, he’s always happy to see everyone that walks in the front door.

Other: Whitey is neutered, housebroken, crate-trained and current on his vaccinations — microchipping is included with his adoption fee.

Adoption fee: $225

Where to find the pet: RoverRescue.org or call 630.897.7454
