1Suspicious incident: An employee notified police that an unidentified male or female “tried to make a questionable return of merchandise” about 11 a.m. at Menards, 715 Fort Hill Drive.
Thursday, March 20
2Suspended license: Ernie D. Smith, 30, Bolingbrook; 12:17 a.m. near Fifth Avenue and Mill Street; charged with driving with a suspended license, obstructing identification, driving without a rear license plate light and another vehicular lighting violation; also taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrant.
3Excessive speeding: Benjamin L. Silver, 21, Downers Grove; 2:35 a.m. near Rollingridge Road and Route 59; charged with driving 35 mph over posted speed limit.
4Warrant: Secunda R. Baker, 28, 1500 block of West Jefferson Avenue; 8:20 a.m. at home; taken into custody on outstanding, $300 arrest warrant issued for driving under the influence of alcohol.
5Warrants: Alphonso Norman, 32, Chicago; 9:45 a.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; taken into custody on two outstanding contempt of court arrest warrants totaling $2,000.
6Warrants: Cynthia M. Munday, 52, 2100 block of Schumacher Lane; 11:37 a.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; taken into custody on two outstanding arrest warrants totaling $5,000.
7Warrant: Juan J. Cortes, 22, Cicero; 4:16 p.m., following traffic stop near Ring Road and Washington Street; taken into custody on outstanding “no bond” arrest warrant issued in felony retail theft case in Cook County.
8Hit and run: Diana Viertel, 34, 2900 block of White Thorn Circle; followed at 6:24 p.m. to 87th Street and Sheehan Drive; witness told police of seeing Viertel’s vehicle strike and damage vehicle parked on 400 block of Martin Avenue, near Knoch Park; Viertel then drove away from area; after being stopped, Viertel “initially denied being involved, but then said she might have hit something;” charged with leaving scene of accident involving vehicle damage.
9Neighbor dispute: About 7:36 p.m., two residents of Alden Estates of Naperville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 1525 Oxford Lane, “became engaged in a dispute, when one resident entered the room of another;” no charges filed.
10Warrant: Nicole E. Josefik, 19, 0-99 block of Tenth Avenue; 9:20 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and Route 59; taken into custody on outstanding, $300 arrest warrant.
11Warrant: Roberto J. Diaz-Deleon, 23, 700 block of North Brainard Street; 9:34 p.m. at home; taken into custody on outstanding, $3,000 arrest warrant.
12Marijuana possession: Samuel I. Swope, 22, Aurora; 10:51 p.m. near Meson Sabika, 1025 Aurora Ave.; charged with possession of marijuana.
Friday, March 21
13Burglary: A 26-year-old man reported between 10:30 a.m. and 6:50 p.m., unspecified property stolen after apartment complex maintenance technicians left door open to common garage on 1500 block of Fairway Drive.
14Driving under the influence: Jennifer A. Garza, 34, Lindenhurst; 9:50 p.m. near Beebe Drive and Route 59; charged with two counts DUI and one count failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.
15Resisting police: Michael R. Lofgren, 25, 0-99 block of Robin Hill Drive; 10:44 p.m. near Diehl and Frontenac roads; charged with resisting a peace officer, failure to signal and improper lane use; passenger Christy N. Aylward, 34, of same address, charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
