Girls Soccer: Five area teams rank in top 20

Five teams in the Naperville area ranked in the top 20 Chicago-area soccer teams. Waubonsie Valley, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, Naperville Central and Metea Valley all ranked in the top 20. Waubonsie Valley, Naperville North and Neuqua Valley ranked in the top five.

Top 20 teams

1. Buffalo Grove: “We have a great nucleus back, and we’re excited,” coach Pat Dudle said. In addition to the Bison’s skilled offensive attack, gifted sophomore defender Amanda Kowalski bolsters the lineup.

2. Waubonsie Valley: Coach Julie Bergstrom’s powerhouse roster showcases nine college recruits for a defending sectional finalist. Forward Kristen Dodson (Auburn) and midfielders Morgan Kemerling (Iowa) and Mackenzie Fuller (UIC) are the offensive stars.

3. Naperville North: The two-time defending Class 3A state champion (41-1-4 the last two years) has the state’s top junior in forward Abbie Boswell (27 goals, 10 assists) and a superb keeper with Fiona Baenziger.
