Naperville man arrested on child porn charges

A man from Naperville’s northwest side remained in custody Thursday, after being accused of storing at least six pornographic images of children in at least one personal computer.

Jeffrey A. Wright, 56, was expected to spend Thursday night in DuPage County Jail and then appear Friday morning for a bond hearing in DuPage County Circuit Court in Wheaton.

A news release stated Wright was arrested Thursday following a joint, three-month-long investigation by members of the high technology crimes units operated by the Naperville Police Department and Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. The release indicated “numerous child pornographic files were observed being downloaded and shared over computer networks” during that investigation.

Authorities executed a search warrant Thursday at Wright’s apartment on the 700 block of Royal St George Drive, according to the release. Wright was taken into custody and subsequently charged with six felony counts of possession of child pornography, the release stated.

The Naperville police high tech crimes unit “tracks those individuals who use the Internet to download and distribute images and videos of children being victimized sexually by adults,” the release indicated.

An examination of court documents revealed Wright has no criminal record in DuPage, Kane and Will counties.
