Pets of the Week: Cats and dogs available for adoption

Thierry

Age: 3 years old

Breed: Domestic long hair

Personality: Thierry is a spunky, petite 3-year-old girl who gets along with other cats and dogs at her foster home. She is a very social cat who enjoys being around people. She would much rather sit next to you than be held. She effectively uses the scratching post but does best with a covered litter box. Because of her fine, long hair she needs to be brushed daily, which she tolerates.

Other: Thierry does have a previous injury to her rear left leg which is a little weaker but does not slow her down one bit. As a kitten, she had surgery to correct her soft palate. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed.

Adoption fee: $100

Bonnie

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Short-haired calico

Background: Bonnie has been in foster care since she was a kitten, along with her three sisters.

Personality: Bonnie is a little shy with strangers, but once she gets to know you, she should be fine. She is a gentle girl and loves to play with her sisters.

Adoption fee: $100

Other: Spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines

Where to find this pet: Paws and Purrs Humane Society, 630-897-8738, www.pawsandpurrs.org.

Lizzie

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Beagle mix

Background:

Personality: Super affectionate, Lizzie loves hugs and is generous with her kisses for her favorite people. Although she’s a little shy at first, she’d like nothing better than to cuddle up with you on the couch all day. This sweet, quiet-natured dog enjoys adults, but gets anxious around kids. Other dogs tend to scare her, so she would do best around calm, docile canines.

Other: She’s already house trained, but doesn’t do well in a crate. Lizzie is spayed and current on her vaccinations — microchipping is included with her adoption fee.

Boomer

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Beagle

Background: He was transferred to NAHS from an overcrowded shelter in Oklahoma.

Personality: Boomer is a sweet, gentle and friendly dog that would make a great addition to any family. Because of his tolerant nature, he can live with other dogs, cats and children of any age. He likes to play when he’s in the mood, but more than anything, Boomer loves to snuggle on your lap.

Adoption fee: $200

Other: All animals at NAHS have been examined for health and temperament, are up-to-date on vaccines and have been microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption.

Catrick Swayze

Age: 4 years old

Breed: Domestic short hair

Background: He was transferred to NAHS from Naperville Animal Control.

Personality: Catrick Swayze is a friendly and outgoing cat with a bit of a playful side. He is very curious and loves checking out new things. Because he is pretty gentle, Catrick Swayze can live with children about 5 years and older. He might be OK living with another friendly cat, but he’s never met a dog.

Adoption fee: $50

Other: All animals at NAHS have been examined for health and temperament, are up-to-date on vaccines and have been microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption.

Where to find this pet: Naperville Area Humane Society, 1620 W. Diehl Road in Naperville, www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Streeter Seidel

Age: 6 months old

Breed: Full-blooded Min Pin

Personality: This 13-pounder is friendly, playful and energetic. Ideally, he would love another dog to play with, but it’s not a necessity. He’s a fun little guy to have around!

Other: Streeter is neutered, microchipped and has all his shots.

Adoption fee: $225

Where to find him: Eye on the Sparrow Rescue, call Lynn at 630-892-9070.
