Reward offered in vandalism at sports complex

Naperville police on Tuesday asked the public for help in identifying the young man who allegedly used a hockey stick to strike and damage a surveillance video camera early last month at the Nike Sports Complex on the city’s far north side.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, according to a Crime Stoppers release.

The incident occurred about 2 a.m. March 5, as “a group of subjects were playing hockey in the parking lot” of the complex, at 288 W. Diehl Road, the release stated.

“The surveillance video captures one of the male subjects … using his hockey stick to apparently strike the camera and damage the lens cover,” the release read.

Witnesses to the incident, those who believe they recognize the alleged vandal or those who have other information about the matter are asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006. Callers can remain anonymous.
