Glenn Anton was hoping a souvenir mug might be a big seller. His idea was a hit — outshining even his biggest seller, Naperville fridge magnets.
“We just commissioned our own coffee mug,” explains Anton, who owns Naperville General Store in downtown Naperville with his wife, Debra. “It’s our hottest seller.”
And it features a Naperville icon: the covered bridge on the Riverwalk.
The mug combines two simple ideas. The stencil-like rendition of the bridge is framed with the simple words: “Naperville, No place like it!”
“We are a fun store, but we also like the good-old days,” says Anton about the almost retro design concept that reflects their store’s identity.
The Naperville General Store carries a wide selection of Naperville souvenirs, gifts, delicatessen items and all kinds of knick-knacks, all made in the U.S.A., of course.
At $8.95 per mug, it definitely beats any last-minute airport buys.
“We are so happy we added the mug to our selection,” Anton says.
And, if you’re wondering, Wooden Naperville signs come in at a close third in the popularity contest of Naperville-proud items.
