Editor’s note: The Sun, with the help of the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club, is featuring each month a recent Naperville transplant or a resident who has had a significant life change. Let’s get to know our neighbors!
Debbie Bradley, 58, moved to Naperville in July when her husband was hired as vice president of sales for Office Max.
What came before Naperville?
“I was born in Ontario, Canada, but have lived in the U.S. for 23 years. My husband was sent to the head office of SC Johnson Wax in Racine, Wis., from Brantford, Ontario. We lived there for 11 years. We then moved to Rochester, N.Y., and lived there for 11 years also.
How did you find out about the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club?
“Without having young children at home any longer, I found it very difficult to meet friends in Rochester, N.Y. I met Kathy Moreno in Naperville while we were both having our nails done, and she mentioned this great club. I was excited to try it! I have met such lovely people and have already made some very strong friendships in the short 6 months I have lived here. The ladies are fabulous and there is something to do for everyone.”
What are your favorite activities in the club?
“My favorites are the potlucks, the monthly lunches at new and exciting places, and I love the bi-monthly cooking classes with Nicole. Everyone is very generous with their time and companionship, and I am enjoying myself immensely. I will be trying out the 9-hole golf in the spring — look out!”
What do you like best about living in the Naperville area?
“I love living in this area — particularly since it brings me closer to our daughter, son-in-law and 14-month-old grandson, who live in Appleton, Wis. Our son is presently living in San Francisco, but we hope to get him back to the Midwest sometime, too.”
The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club holds a welcome coffee once a month from September through June at the Municipal Center. Contact Sue at 630-904-5629 to learn more.
