Baseball: Naperville North bats wake up against Waubonsie Valley

Naperville North posted 12 runs in the first inning en route to a 21-8 win over Waubonsie Valley.

You never can tell what will happen in a baseball game, and Wednesday’s nonconference game between Naperville North and Waubonsie Valley proved it.

North entered the game with one win and a struggling offense. Waubonsie pitcher Zack Bennema beat Naperville Central last week.

Softball: Lindsay Gonzalez’s perfect day leads Naperville Central to win

Lindsay Gonzalez went 5-for-5 and drove in four runs as Naperville Central’s offense exploded for 18 runs in its 18-4 win over Plainfield Central Wednesday.

If No. 1 Naperville Central is just warming up, it’s going to be a long season for anybody who tries to get in the Redhawks’ way.

The Redhawks played in just their second game of the season Wednesday at Plainfield Central. They didn’t show it, especially on offense where they pounded out 19 hits in an impressive 18-4 win over the Wildcats.

Girls Soccer: Naperville Central, Geneva finish with tie

It was the first time Naperville Central and Geneva played on grass this season and they had to contend with a howling wind. So it wasn’t surprising the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Conditions weren’t exactly ideal when Naperville Central and Geneva met Wednesday in the opening match of the St. Charles East Invitational.

It was the first time either team had played on grass this season and they had to contend with a howling wind that tilted the play down one end.
