Benet students selected as finalists in Illinois Music Theater Awards

Two Benet Academy students were selected as finalists in the Illinois High School Music Theater Awards. Read the full release below.
 
For the third year in a row, Benet Academy has finalists in the Illinois High School Music Theater Awards competition presented by Broadway in Chicago. For the first time, both Benet students are finalists, nominated for Best Performance in a Lead Role!
 
Congratulations to:
  • Alex Oechsel of Naperville, Peggy Sawyer - 42nd Street
  • Frank Zabilka of Lemont, Billy Lawler - 42nd Street

Alex and Frank are among the twenty-four finalists (12 actors & 12 actresses) from all over Illinois competing on April 25th. They will receive tickets to a Broadway In Chicago show, perform on stage at the Broadway Playhouse, and compete in front of Chicago casting agents and theater professionals for the top honors. 

From the twenty-four finalists, two Illinois winners (one lead actor, one lead actress) will go to New York for an all-expense paid trip to participate in a performance enrichment program and represent the state of Illinois at the National High School Musical Theater Awards, on Broadway, during summer 2014.
