A new leader will oversee the commemoration of the Naperville Area Humane Society’s 35th anniversary later this year.
Executive Director Angie Wood has submitted her resignation and will be moving out of the area with her family, due to her husband’s recent job transfer to Tyler, Tex., she said Monday.
“We are working on finding my replacement,” said Wood, who has held the shelter’s top job for six years.
A posting of the job’s availability late last month drew 42 resumes, Wood said, and interviews will be taking place this week. Most of the candidates live in the Chicago area, but none of those seeking the position is currently on the agency’s staff.
The intention is to have the new head of the nonprofit in place by mid-May, Wood said, allowing a few days of overlap so she can train her successor.
“I just think this person is coming into a great organization with a great team, in terms of our volunteers, our staff and our board,” she said.
The Woods, who live in Plainfield, have a May 31 moving date set, she said.
