A Joliet man has been charged with cyber stalking and computer tampering in a case involving a Naperville resident who said she was being harassed.

On Friday, members of the Naperville Police Department’s High Technology Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Paul Hantel, 37, in the 1300 block of Cambria Drive in Joliet.

An investigation was launched in October of 2013, after a 29-year-old Naperville resident claimed she was the victim of cyber stalking and computer tampering after she had ended her relationship with Hantel.

A six-month investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant at the residence where Hantel was staying. Hantel was taken into custody and subsequently charged with two counts of cyber stalking (a Class 4 felony), one count of intimidation (Class 3 felony) and one count of computer tampering (Class A misdemeanor).

Hantel was later transported to the Will County Jail.
