The heroics took place off the field at U.S. Cellular on Monday, where Naperville fan Eileen Depesa made an astounding catch to protect a child from a loose baseball bat.
Despesa also works in Naperville for Freedman Anselmo Lindberg.
When White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers lost control of his bat during the second inning of the Indians-White Sox game, it looked bad. The bat rocketed down the third base line, ricocheted off the dugout and began spiraling toward a child in the stands.
That is, until Depesa made an action-hero lunge for the wayward equipment, snagging it mid-flight with cinematic awesomeness that usually requires a mech suit.
Oh yeah, and the Sox also won 6-2.Chicago White Sox, Eileen Depesa
