Solemn Oath Brewery: Q&A with head brewer Tim Marshall

Naperville brewery Solemn Oath already has a reputation stretching from bars in the suburbs to taps in the city. And that reputation is about to stretch even further through a new partnership with Wirtz Beverage Group, who will distribute their beers in Wisconsin.

Head brewer Tim Marshall sat down to talk about how he got started in the brew business, his favorite beer and the future of Solemn Oath.

Lauran: So, can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

Tim Marshall: As far as brewing goes, I started brewing with the Rock Bottom Brew Club. I was here in the suburbs of Chicago. It was Christmas Eve of 1999 that I started with Rock Bottom, and I was waiting tables and the assistant brewer eventually left leaving the head brewer without an assistant. So I just kind of started showing up and asking if he needed any grain moved or anything like that, and kind of just worked my way in and sort of served the position from there.
