Editor’s note: The Sun, with the help of the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club, is featuring each month a recent Naperville transplant or a resident who has had a significant life change. Let’s get to know our neighbors!

How did you find out about the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club?

“We have moved a lot, and for our last few moves, the first thing I do is look for a newcomers club online. The clubs have totally been a lifesaver and made the transitions so much easier. We have made lifelong friends through these clubs.”

What are your favorite things to do in the club?

“I am involved in several groups within the club, including the movie groups, knitting, Let’s Do Lunch, Coffee Shop Chat, walking, wine tasting, and because I’m an avid reader, three book clubs. Next year I will be even more involved as I have accepted a position on the board of the club. NNNC keeps me as busy as I want to be, and it’s so nice to meet women who understand how difficult it is to start over in a new city.”

Where do you live and why do you like it?

“We live in the middle of downtown Naperville and love being able to walk out the door and go out to eat or shop. We enjoy the Riverwalk and many trails in the area. It is so nice to be able to jump on the train and go in to Chicago to visit our daughter who lives in the city. I really love taking advantage of Anderson’s book store’s author signings. We truly love Naperville, and I especially love NNNC!”

The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club holds a welcome coffee once a month from September through June at the Municipal Center. Contact Sue at 630-904-5629 to learn more.
