Naperville police are seeking help from the public in finding the gunman who robbed a sandwich shop late Monday night in the central part of the city.
Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man who held up the Subway restaurant at 931 W. 75th St., in the Hobson West Commons shopping center just east of Rickert Drive.
A police news release indicated the stickup occurred about 10 p.m. Monday. Police were sent to the restaurant to investigate a report of “an armed robbery in progress,” the release stated.
“The initial investigation revealed that the suspect entered the restaurant, displayed a gun and demanded money,” the release read. The robber “obtained an undisclosed amount of currency prior to fleeing from the scene.”
Police arrived within minutes of receiving the initial 911 call and conducted a search of the area, but the robber could not be found, according to the release. No restaurant employees or customers were injured during the incident.
The gunman was described as being a male of indeterminate race with a “lighter complexion,” the release stated. He was tall with a thin build, and wore dark-colored pants, a black hood and a black scarf over his face.
Witnesses to the robbery, or those who believe they have information about the gunman or the incident, were asked to call the police at 630-420-6666, or the Naperville Crime Stoppers Hotline, at 630-420-6006. Callers can remain anonymous.Tags: Police Blotter
