All-Area first team filled with treasure trove of talent

Three Naperville-area players were named to the Sun-Times All-area girls soccer team.

Waubonsie Valley forward Kristen Dodson, Metea Valley’s Jenna Kentgen and Neuqua Valley’s Talise Romain were named All-area players.

The Sun-Times All-area girls soccer team is a group for the ages composed of dynamic parts that form a whole. These players are singled out for their individual achievements within the framework of strong team play against high-level competition.

In one of the closest ballots ever for Sun-Times Player of the Year, Waubonsie Valley forward Kristen Dodson edged forward Maddie Mulford of Class 3A state champion New Trier and Barrington junior Jenna Szczesny, the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year. The offensive positional players showcased diverse skill sets.
