The United States defeated Ghana behind a headed goal by John Brooks off a corner from Graham Zusi in the 86th minute. Clint Dempsey started the game by recording one of the fastest World Cup goals in history, scoring only 32 seconds into the match. In the process, Dempsey became the first U.S. player to score in three World Cups.
