Police Report: Garbage truck driver damages power line

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Saturday, June 14

DUI: Daiva Narbutiene, 51, Darien; 2:57 a.m. near 75th Street and Gladstone Drive; charged with DUI, driving without insurance and improper lane use.

Hit and run: Between 7 a.m. June 13 and 9:50 a.m. today, vehicle that possibly had tire attached to rear struck garage on 100 block of South Ellsworth Street while driving through alley, damaging garage and its support beams.

Hit and run: About 12:09 p.m., unidentified motorist triggered four-vehicle, rear-end, chain-reaction traffic crash at North Aurora Road and Enterprise Court; motorist then fled from scene, but not before driver of second vehicle snapped photograph of at-fault motorist’s license plate; first driver soon after approached police officer who was sent to scene and admitted causing crash; charged with leaving scene of accident involving vehicle damage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions; no injuries reported.

Careless driving: About 2:22 p.m., three-vehicle, rear-end, chain-reaction traffic crash occurred near 75th Street and Rickert Drive; no injuries reported; at-fault motorist charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.

Careless driving: About 6:57 p.m., unidentified driver of Buick rear-ended Chevrolet near 95th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road, after driver of Chevy stopped for police car driving past with emergency lights flashing; driver of Buick admitted he “was watching the police car, (and) not in front of him;” no injuries reported; Buick driver charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.

Suspended license: James A. Bicek, 56, Downers Grove; 9:13 p.m. near Slippery Rock Road and Ranchview Drive; charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving with an expired registration.

Disorderly conduct: Jeffrey R. Sellers, 24, Wheaton; 9:26 p.m. on 0-99 block of South Parkway Drive; charged with disorderly conduct/breach of peace.

Theft: Joseph T. McGinnis, 49, 10000 block of Royal Porthcawl Drive; 11:29 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with theft.

Sunday, June 15

Battery: Francis P. Linek, 30, Bolingbrook; 1:38 a.m. at Rizzo’s, 6 W. Jefferson Ave.; charged with battery, battery causing bodily harm and resisting a peace officer; second man, Andrew S. Tylka, 24, Plainfield, charged with fighting and possession of marijuana.

Property damage: A 55-year-old man reported between 11:11 p.m. June 14 and 2:41 p.m., mailbox damaged outside home on 1000 block of Hobson Mill Drive; damage estimated at $100.

Property damage: A 52-year-old woman reported between 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., concrete statue in shape of bear damaged on front porch of home on 2000 block of Cherrywood Circle.

Monday, June 16

Property damage: About 6:38 a.m., unidentified driver of garbage truck charged with damaging property, after causing overhead power line damage near North Avenue and Brainard Street.

Vehicle burglary: A 34-year-old woman reported between 10:15 p.m. June 15 and 7:20 a.m., $40 stolen from unlocked vehicle parked in lot of apartment complex on 1000 block of Fairway Drive.

Property damage: About 2:11 p.m., “suspicious incident/criminal damage to property” occurred on 2400 block of Wild Timothy Road; report provided no further information.

Traffic crash: About 6:05 p.m., “minor,” two-vehicle traffic crash occurred near 75th Street and Naper Boulevard; driver of one vehicle “claimed injury well after fact.”

Suspended license: Allen J. Hubbard, 70, Bolingbrook; 7:49 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and Naper Boulevard; charged with driving with a suspended license.

Marijuana possession: About 8:01 p.m., unidentified male or female charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on 400 block of Valley Drive.

Street racing: Justin A. Evans, 21, Bolingbrook; 11:28 p.m. near Conan Doyle and Plainfield-Naperville roads; charged with street racing.
