Authorities on Friday continued their investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in or near a retention pond in an unincorporated area of DuPage County near Woodridge.
A spokeswoman for the DuPage County coroner’s office on Friday said investigators are continuing to seek the cause and manner of death in the case. The body is that of a 40-year-old Woodridge man, the spokeswoman said.
The body was reportedly found shortly after noon Monday in or near a retention pond at the northeast corner of 101st Street and Woodward Avenue. The area is just south of Interstate 55 and across the street to the east from the AMC Loews Woodridge 18 movie theater complex.
A half-dozen police vehicles were seen there about 2 p.m. Monday. Yellow, plastic crime scene tape was woven into the trees in the area where the body was found.
A police officer on the scene would not speak about the matter when approached by a reporter for The Sun.
The DuPage County sheriff’s office has jurisdiction over the case. A spokeswoman for that office could not be reached Friday by telephone for comment on it.Tags: DuPage County, Police Blotter
