Pets of the Week: Dogs and cats ready for adoption

Ella

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Spitz mix

Background: Ella started her life in a puppy mill, where she was confined to a small, tight cage night and day. She eventually made her way to Rover Rescue and was adopted. Her owner eventually was confined to a wheelchair, and they moved together to an assisted living facility until she died.

Personality: Ella adores adults but hasn’t spent much time with kids. She gets along well with other dogs. Ella occasionally spins in a circle, a habit leftover from being confined to a cage at the puppy mill.

Other: Ella is spayed, almost housebroken and up-to-date with her vaccinations. Microchipping is included with her adoption fee.

Adoption fee: $200

Where to find the pet: RoverRescue.org or call 630-897-7454.

Hank

Age: 2 to 3 years old

Breed: Retriever/spaniel mix

Personality: Hank is an outgoing, smart, socialized, smiling retriever/spaniel mix who is shy at first but quickly becomes your new best friend. Hank is definitely a water dog, too. He is a medium-to-high energy dog and would do best in a home where he was not left alone for long periods.

Other: Hank is house trained, is past any chewing stage, and is quiet and calm in the house. He knows some commands, including “sit” and takes treats gently from a hand. Hank is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has a microchip.
