Police Blotter: ‘SEX’ spraypainted on Naperville front porch

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Wednesday, June 25

Theft: Between 12:40 and 12:53 a.m., bicycle stolen after being left on 2800 block of 95th Street.

No insurance: About 9:39 a.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without insurance, following two-vehicle, rear-end traffic crash near Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway overpass at Mill Street.

Suspicious incident: A resident of the 3800 block of Tall Grass Drive reported between 2:10 and 4:10 p.m., telephone call received from man “with a strong Eastern Indian accent,” who first claimed to be with IRS and then with Naperville Police Department; report provided no further information.

Battery: An unidentified male reported about 7:14 p.m., he was involved in “mutual fight” with other male near Eighth Avenue and Morningside Drive; other male described as white man in his early 20s wearing only blue shorts; male said he did not know other man, refused medical treatment at scene and said he did not want to sign complaint.

No insurance: Sammy Castro, 34, Des Plaines; 7:47 p.m. near 111th Street and Route 59; charged with driving without insurance.

Theft: A 21-year-old man reported between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., wallet containing driver’s license, TCF Bank debit card and $3 stolen from locker in men’s locker room at XSport Fitness, 2780 Fitness Drive.

Thursday, June 26

Marijuana possession: Zachary R. Andreasen, 18, hometown not provided; 12:40 a.m. near Hobson Road and Market Avenue; charged with possession of marijuana.

Property damage: Christiana L. Dennis, 34, hometown not provided; 1:43 a.m. on 1800 block of Paddington Avenue; charged with criminal damage to property.

Property damage: A 38-year-old woman reported between 11 p.m. June 25 and 2 a.m., neon yellow marking pen used to scrawl graffiti on garage door of home on 2200 block of River Woods Drive.

Theft: A 51-year-old man reported about 2:17 a.m., passenger jumped out of cab on 1500 block of Brookdale Road and fled from area without paying fare.

Vehicle burglaries: A 46-year-old man reported between 9 p.m. June 25 and 7 a.m., two unlocked vehicles burglarized while parked outside home on 2000 block of Maplewood Circle.

Property damage: A 45-year-old man reported between 10 p.m. June 25 and 8:45 a.m., obscene drawings and word “SEX” spray-painted in red on front porch of home on 5400 block of Silk Oak Drive; man said he removed graffiti before calling police.

Theft: A 42-year-old man reported between 8:30 and 9 a.m., wallet containing $145 stolen after being left on customer service counter of Walmart SuperCenter, 2552 W. 75th St.; wallet later found in mailbox at U.S. Postal Service facility at Feldott Lane and Ogden Avenue; suspect in theft located when he returned to store to shop; man admitted theft and provided information about wallet and stolen money; victim declined to pursue criminal charges.

No insurance: Cullen B. Martin, 34, Aurora; 10:04 a.m. following three-vehicle, rear-end, chain-reaction traffic crash near 111th Street and 248th Avenue; charged with driving without insurance.

Vehicle burglary: A 26-year-old woman reported between 8 and 11 a.m., wallet containing PNC Bank Visa debit card and two bottles of prescription morphine and Norco stolen from unlocked vehicle parked on 600 block of East Ogden Avenue.

Theft: About 1:33 p.m., theft occurred at Goodwill Industries, 539 Fort Hill Drive; report provided no further information.

Theft: A 59-year-old woman reported between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., driver’s license and bank debit card stolen on 1300 block of North Mill Street.

Theft: A 49-year-old woman reported sometime before 2:05 p.m., diamond ring stolen during estate sale being held at home on 1000 block of Thunderbird Lane.

Suspicious incident: Sometime before 3:08 p.m., five large custom balloons found missing from apartment complex on 2600 block of Rockport Lane.

Marijuana possession: About 4:33 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana, following traffic stop on 1500 block of Aurora Avenue.
