Samanta Boddapait of Naperville got married twice in one day.

After a traditional Hindu ceremony that morning, Boddapait traded sari for wedding gown in a second ceremony grounded in new husband Gerardo De Anda’s religion.

Their wedding day featured two ceremonies to honor their religions: a Hindu ceremony in the morning, and a Catholic ceremony in the late afternoon, followed by a cocktail hour and reception.

Samanta said she and Jerry, who is Hispanic, thought capturing both of their cultures would be the appropriate way to begin their marriage.

With two ceremonies came two outfits for each of them: Samanta wore a more modern sari in the morning, and an Allure Bridals wedding gown with a flowing skirt in the evening; Jerry wore a sherwani for the Hindu ceremony and a tuxedo later on.

“We wanted both of our cultures and our backgrounds represented in the wedding,” Samanta said.
