Naperville Library Board elects officers

The Naperville Library Board of Trustees Wednesday night voted on its slate of candidates for board positions for the upcoming year.

The board re-elected Sandy Benson as president. Vince Rosanova was elected as vice president and Madhu Uppal as secretary.

Library Executive Director Julie Rothenfluh said only Rosanova is actually new to the board, coming on after the resignation of board member Ron Davidson.

Benson said this is her second successive term, and that while most former presidents serve just one year, officers can serve in the same capacity again.

“I’m happy to continue on as president and serve in that role on the board,” Benson said the day after the election. “Overall, my goals in the second term are to support the vision of the library.”

Benson highlighted some initiatives already underway that she would like to see continue during her next term.

“We want to continue to support the NaperLaunch program that is designed to help business entrepreneurs,” she said. “We also want to continue to support the community partnership programs we’ve had, including groups like the Naper Settlement and the Children’s Museum, as well as other programs we’ve offered.”

Benson also stressed supporting Rothenfluh and the staff running the library.

“I suppose in some ways I should have mentioned that first,” Benson said with a laugh. “There have been a lot of initiatives begun and we want to continue to grow the library and continue to improve the great resource it is.”
