It was another big summer for the Naperville Summer Junior Tennis League.

Not only were there 145 junior players participating in the NSJTL Singles Tennis Tournament, but despite early morning rain, the tournament went offwithout a glitch, and all the matches were completed in one afternoon.

Hayden Sass, Stillwater, working his way through a draw of almost 50 players in the High School Boys Division, beat Donovan O’Grady, White Eagle in a late evening match of the tournament.

Jr. High & younger Boys Division, with a record 52 participants, demonstrated that Naperville has some outstanding junior players. In the final 6th match of both their draws, Charlie Rutherford, River Run, outlasted Ryan Riemer, Stillwater, for 1st place.

Tarika Patel, Maplebrook II, fought hard to pull off a 7-6(7) semi-final match, only to have to retire from her final High School Girls match due to an injury; a well-earned 1st Place in the division went to Elizabeth Prendergast, representing White Eagle.

The Jr. High & younger Girls Division was Jennifer Pochyly, River Run; 2nd Place winner was Grace Panegasser of Saybrook.

All the junior players in the NSJTL are looking forward to two more Friday afternoon Tennis Tournaments, with the Doubles Tournament on August 1st, and the Team Cup Challenge on August 8th.
