Running out of Naperville-specific knickknacks? Naperville General Store has plenty of ideas to replenish your stock, including wooden frames embellished with typical Naperville sites and scenes.
Glenn and Debra Anton, owners of the downtown specialty store, are always looking to offer authentic and Made in U.S.A. items. They recently expanded their Naperville-specific offerings by adding a horizontal 4-by-6-inch, a 5-by-7-inch, and a vertical 8-by-10-inch photo frame to their local selection.
“We commissioned the frames since we get so many requests for Naperville-themed items,” says Debra Anton of the frame the store started offering in early June. “We had received requests for picture frames, too, so we just put the two requests together.”
The frames are made of a hard wood called alder wood making for a sturdy but also rather lightweight product.
“It’s a hard wood that takes the engraving well. The image is clear and precise and will last indefinitely — it won’t chip away,” Glenn Anton says. “You can feel the texture of the design when you run your hand over the frame.”
The frames feature the Dick Tracy sculpture, Dandelion Fountain, Fredenhagen Park, Millennium Carillon and the covered bridge on the Riverwalk, Debra Anton says.
The store, 204 S. Washington St., offers the frames for $22.95, $25.95 and $42.95, depending on size. Also check out other custom-made items featuring Naperville.
“With a frame, they can put a favorite photo in a frame that features the most well-known Naperville landmarks,” Debra Anton adds. “It makes a great memory.”
