Linden Oaks at Edward is partnering with JUST DuPage and West Suburban Fellowship Club to present the first Addiction Awareness and Recovery 5K Run/Walk on Sept. 14 at St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville. It will start at 10 a.m.
All of the proceeds from the event will benefit recovery services for people dealing with addictions.
Registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $35 and includes a 5K T-shirt. In addition to the 5K, there will be a Kids 1-Mile Fun Run for $15 that includes a funnel cake and slushie coupon. There will be same-day race registration available from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
For more information or to pre-register for the 5K Run/Walk and Kids One-Mile Fun Run, visit www.edward.org/events-and-training.
The St. James Farm course is a 5K trail-style course through woodlands, meadows and fields. The 5K will be immediately followed by a post-race party, including music and refreshments at the St. James Farm pavilion.
The Addiction Awareness and Recovery 5K was founded as a way to draw attention to addiction in the community and celebrate those in treatment and recovery. The event coincides with National Recovery Month, which supports efforts for substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery.Tags: addiction, health
