Police Blotter: ‘Nasty phrases’ written on car

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Tuesday, Aug. 5

Ammunition destruction: About 1:41 p.m., resident of 1200 block of North Eagle Street called police concerning “two boxes of miscellaneous ammunition that she would like destroyed.”

Suspended license: Eric R. Onesto, 27, Aurora; 8:31 p.m. near 75th Street and Millbrook Drive; charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.

Suspended license: Nehemiah M. Beckley, 27, Bolingbrook; 11:27 p.m. near Royce Road and Washington Street; charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with broken rear license plate light.

Vandalism: A 27-year-old man reported between Aug. 2 and today, “soap or other washable, white product” used to write “several nasty phrases” on windows of car parked in city of Naperville public parking deck, 43 W. Van Buren Ave.; no permanent damage done to car.

Wednesday, Aug. 6

Property damage: Between 10 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 a.m., mailbox damaged outside home on 1800 block of Robert Lane.

Traffic crash: About 8:23 a.m., unidentified motorist ran stop sign at intersection of Chicago Avenue and Sleight Street, striking second vehicle and causing it to spin and hit third vehicle; at-fault driver charged with failure to stop at stop sign.

Vehicular damage: Between 10 p.m. Aug. 4 and 11:24 a.m. today, convertible cloth roof slashed and all four tires punctured on silver Ford Mustang parked on 1800 block of South Washington Street.

Warrant: Julie W. Hartmann, 37, Aurora; 1:04 p.m. on 100 block of North Loomis Street; taken into custody on arrest warrant.

Shoplifting: About 1:59 p.m., unidentified male or female charged under city of Naperville ordinance with retail theft, for stealing $21.41 worth of merchandise from Goodwill Industries, 539 Fort Hill Drive.

Drug paraphernalia possession: About 5:18 p.m., unidentified male or female charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on 2800 block of 95th Street.

Warrant: Robert J. Schoen, 40, Orland Park; 9:41 p.m. at Sleep Inn, 1831 W. Diehl Road; taken into custody on arrest warrant.

Shoplifting: Sarah M. Koziel, 18, Carol Stream; 9:54 p.m. at Walmart SuperCenter, 2552 W. 75th St.; charged with retail theft.

Vandalism: Between 6:30 and 10 p.m., raw eggs hurled and shattered against vehicle parked in lot on 700 block of Benedetti Drive.

Warrant: Alexandria D. Hill, 24, Oswego; 10:40 p.m. near 75th and Washington streets; taken into custody on arrest warrant.

Thursday, Aug. 7

Warrants: Daniel R. Ossander, 21, Aurora; 12:33 a.m. on 800 block of Proud Clarion Court; taken into custody on felony arrest warrants issued in Florida.

Theft: Between 5:30 a.m. Aug. 6 and 5:30 a.m. today, school sign stolen from 1300 block of Springdale Circle.

Theft: Between 8:59 and 9:04 a.m., unidentified scavengers took 10 swivel casters from edge of loading dock of unidentified business on 700 block of Frontenac Road; casters valued at $482.40.

Shoplifting: Brittany M. Farbo, 25, and Dominique R. Stiles, 22, hometowns not provided; 12:38 p.m. at Walmart SuperCenter, 2552 W. 75th St.; charged with retail theft.

Aggravated battery: Unidentified motorist reported about 1:25 p.m., he stopped his vehicle on 3900 block of Royal Portrush Drive to write down license plate number of other motorist, with whom he had been involved in “small traffic altercation;” other driver “got out of her car and slapped (the man) several times” before leaving area; attacker described as being white girl between ages of 16 and 17, tall with slim build, wearing beige top and cut-off jeans.

Warrant: Max C. Gartner, 66, Aurora; 2:51 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; taken into custody on DuPage County arrest warrant.
