Police Blotter: Woman finds stranger sleeping on her couch

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Wednesday, Aug. 6

Theft: A 49-year-old woman reported about 2:04 p.m., parcel containing respirator mask stolen, after being delivered to and left in hallway of her apartment on 700 block of Royal St. George Drive.

Friday, Aug. 8

Obstructing identification: Brianna R. Holman, 21, Maywood; 1:29 a.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with obstructing identification.

Shoplifting: About 10:36 a.m., unidentified man or teenager stole $346.90 worth of merchandise from SuperTarget, 1951 W. Jefferson Ave., and then fled from area on bicycle; shoplifter described as being black and wearing shorts and Chicago Bears sweatshirt, with hood covering his head.

Property damage: A 76-year-old woman reported sometime before 2:11 p.m., windows damaged and doors found unsecured at vacant house on 700 block of South Sleight Street.

No insurance: About 4:46 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without insurance, following traffic crash near North Aurora Road and Route 59.

Theft: A 29-year-old woman reported between 2:17 and 6:30 p.m., theft occurred on 1500 block of West Jefferson Avenue; report provided no further information.

Drug possession: Nathaniel T. McAfee, 21, 1100 block of Cheshire Avenue; 9:49 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, making improper turn at intersection and speeding.

Suspended license: Daniel Palma-Jimenez, 20, 1000 block of Heritage Hill Drive; 10:10 p.m. near Bauer Road and Loomis Street; charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Driving under the influence: John C. Kimbrell, 18, 0-99 block of Wright Street; 11:10 p.m. near AMC Showplace Naperville 16 movie theater complex, 2815 Showplace Drive; charged with DUI/alcohol, DUI/drugs and illegal consumption of alcohol by minor.

Saturday, Aug. 9

DUI: Carl J. Hoffmann, 24, 30W000 block of Vista Circle; 1:42 a.m. outside unidentified business on 2800 block of Aurora Avenue; charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic signal and improper lane use.

Vehicular damage: A 47-year-old woman reported sometime before 6 a.m., raw eggs hurled and shattered against rear, passenger-side window of vehicle parked on 4300 block of Dairymans Circle; window rendered inoperable, due to eggs getting into window motor.

Suspended license: Katrena L. Moore, 27, 1400 block of Fairway Drive; 5:52 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and a registration violation.

Sunday, Aug. 10

DUI: Evan E. Willis, 24, 3700 block of Lawrence Drive; 12:09 a.m. near Jefferson Avenue and Washington Street; charged with DUI, resisting a peace officer, driving without insurance, failure to signal and speeding.

DUI: Brent J. Berger, 29, Chicago; 1:27 a.m. near Ogden Avenue and Fort Hill Drive; charged with two counts DUI and one count each driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Battery: Justin M. Kazich, 27, New Lenox; 1:41 a.m. near Bar Louie, 22 W. Chicago Ave.; charged with battery causing bodily harm and resisting a peace officer.

DUI: Casey E. Bazaldua, 38, Las Vegas; 1:43 a.m. near 87th and Washington streets; charged with two counts DUI and one count each unlawful use of cell phone while driving, failure to signal and improper lane use.

Marijuana possession: Julious L. Curry, 18, 400 block of Gateshead Drive; 1:46 a.m. near 75th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road; charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

Theft: Trevante L. Dardon, 21, Montgomery; 2:25 a.m. near Continental Audi of Naperville, 1527 W. Ogden Ave.; charged with theft and battery.

Trespassing: A 54-year-old woman reported about 2:49 a.m., she found “an unknown subject sleeping” on couch inside home on 300 block of South Sleight Street; report provided no further information.

Warrant: About 11:50 a.m., unidentified man or woman found asleep on bench outside Naperville Public Library’s Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave.; police awakened sleeper and determined he or she was wanted on DuPage County arrest warrant.
