Banana Republic and Athleta stores are coming to Naperville, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
The two Gap Inc. retailers will occupy adjacent stores in a nearly 20,000-square-foot retail building at 103 S. Washington St. in downtown Naperville:
Retail companies have been picky about their expansion plans amid a sluggish economic recovery, but Naperville’s downtown has proven an attractive suburban option. Anthropologie and J.Crew, for example, are among the tenants opening in a new addition to the Mainstreet Promenade development at Main Street and Van Buren Avenue in the suburb.
“The retailers are realizing that it is a regional draw, that it is a regional market,” said Nicholas Peters, a senior vice president in the Oak Brook office of CBRE Inc. who handles leasing at Main Street Promenade but wasn’t involved in Gap’s deals. “The sales volumes they’re experience are very strong.”construction, shopping
