The Naperville Park District invites the community to celebrate the reopening of three playgrounds in the month of September. Playground celebrations are planned for the following dates and locations:

Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Buttonwood Park, 803 Buttonwood Circle.

Tuesday, Sept. 16 at East Greens, 249 White Oak Road.

Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Old Farm Park, near the south intersection of Countryside Circle and Briarheath Lane. Access the playground using the sidewalk on Countryside Circle.

All events will begin at 5 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the playground celebration will be rescheduled for the next day at 5 p.m. Check the weather cancellations tab at http://www.napervilleparks.org/cancellations.

Neighbors are invited to bring their families and friends to participate in a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, enjoy refreshments and giveaways, and check out the new play equipment and landscaping.

Playground designs were based on input from neighbors and include state-of-the-art play equipment accessible to children of all abilities. Each playground has separate play structures for 2- to 5-year-olds and 5- to 12-year-olds.

The Buttonwood Park playground features a large climbing boulder and a new shelter. The East Greens playground includes a new shelter and a re-routing of the sidewalk to allow better access to the shelter and more green space to the west of the playground. The Old Farm Park playground has new shade trees and a new shelter. Additionally, a new backstop was installed at the park.
