Police Blotter: Woman charged with child endangerment

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Saturday, Aug. 16

Theft: A 44-year-old disc jockey reported between 2 and 2:30 a.m., case containing $3,000 worth of electronic equipment stolen after he inadvertently left it near rear, east side door of unidentified restaurant on 0-99 block of East Chicago Avenue.

Monday, Aug. 18

Resisting police: Shanda M. Terry, 26; 12:24 a.m. in room at Extended Stay America-Chicago-Naperville, 1827 Centre Point Circle; charged with three counts resisting police and one count each endangering the health or life of a child, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Battery: About 12:27 a.m., two unidentified men or women charged with fighting inside unidentified restaurant on 0-99 block of East Chicago Avenue.

Driving under the influence: Nicholas J. Karl, 20, Lisle; 3:10 a.m. at McDonald’s, 1520 N. Naper Blvd.; charged with DUI and possession of marijuana.

Underage drinking: About 3:58 a.m., male teenager or young adult issued city of Naperville citation for underage consumption of alcohol on 1100 block of George Lane.

Vehicular burglary: A 23-year-old woman reported between 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and 6:50 a.m., Visa credit card, iPod Touch and backpack containing clothing and jewelry valued at $490 stolen from unlocked vehicle parked outside home on 800 block of Benedetti Drive.

Battery: A 24-year-old man reported between 6:50 and 7:03 a.m., he was attacked from behind while arriving at work and opening door of unidentified business on 500 block of Frontenac Court; man was “punched in back of head numerous times and (sustained) small cut on lip;” man said he had “no idea” who attacker was.

Failure to yield: About 7:38 a.m., Naperville Park District employee doing maintenance work on all-terrain vehicle tried to cross Hobson Road at Washington Street, believing “he had time to cross because there was still time on the pedestrian crossing timer;” vehicle struck vehicle making turn on green arrow; driver of second vehicle told police all-terrain driver “came from nowhere and hit her.”

Obstructing identification: Esmeralda Garduno, 24, Aurora; 7:50 a.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with obstructing identification.

Hit and run: About 9:09 a.m., unidentified motorist charged with failure to provide information to owner of parked vehicle, after hitting vehicle on 800 block of South Washington Street.

Vehicular burglary: A 30-year-old man reported between 6 p.m. Aug. 17 and 9:15 a.m., GPS unit, digital camera and other property stolen from unlocked vehicle parked outside home on 800 block of Benedetti Drive.

Warrant: Sheneice L. Block, 32, 1600 block of Lois Ann Lane; 12:49 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; surrendered on Cook County arrest warrant for contempt of court.

Narcotics possession: Michael A. Chacon, 25, 1200 block of Suffolk Street; 7:17 p.m. at home; charged with possession of a controlled substance, bringing contraband to a penal institution and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marijuana manufacturing: Kaitlyn L. Baker, 18, Aurora; 9:26 p.m. on 800 block of South Whispering Hills Drive; charged with manufacture or delivery of 2.5 grams or less marijuana and possession of 2.5 grams or less marijuana.

DUI: Jacob D. Reed, 21, Warrenville; 11:09 p.m. near Bar Louie, 22 E. Chicago Ave.; charged with DUI and resisting police.

Tuesday, Aug. 19

Warrant: Cheryl O. Chambliss, 32, 2700 block of Cedar Glade Drive; 2:39 a.m. at Houlihan’s, 2860 Showplace Drive; taken into custody on $5,000 DuPage County arrest warrant.

Property damage: A 49-year-old woman reported between 8:45 p.m. Aug. 18 and 7 a.m., two lights on either side of garage door damaged at home on 900 block of Savannah Circle.

Property damage: A 52-year-old man reported between 9 p.m. Aug. 18 and 7:40 a.m., mailbox destroyed outside home on 2400 block of Brockton Circle.

Vandalism: Sometime before 8:14 a.m., graffiti painted in black in northwest stairwell and on exterior, northeast corner of city of Naperville public parking deck, 75 E. Chicago Ave.

Vehicular damage: A 26-year-old man reported between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., beer bottle was thrown and struck vehicle on 0-99 block of Robin Hill Drive.

Narcotics possession: James A. Owens, 27; 9:58 a.m. in his room at Stardust Motel, 890 E. Ogden Ave.; charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vehicular burglaries: Between 10 p.m. Aug. 18 and 12:28 p.m., Mac book stolen from unlocked vehicle parked outside home on 700 block of Genesee Drive; vehicle at neighboring address also broken into, but nothing stolen.
