After almost three decades of remodeling homes in and around Naperville, Judi and Craig Haick decided it was time to open a showroom. And now they have at 2960 Artesian Road in Naperville.
“It’s an inspirational space,” explains Judi of the choice of the showroom with ample parking and easy access.
The Remodeling & Design Center incorporates her husband’s C&R Carpentry business.
“We wanted to have a one-stop-shop,” says Judi Haick, wife and master organizer. “We’ve been doing this for 29 years out of our home, and we wanted to make it easier on the customer.”
Customers can roam the 17,000-square-foot showroom for ideas and inspiration — from cabinetry to carpentry, floors to draperies, tiles and paint jobs, as well as hardware and accessories.
“It’s a good way to see our workmanship and quality,” Judi says.
Judi and Craig readily assist customers with decision making and tips, when needed.
“Some customers need support; some customers know exactly what they want,” she says. “We are just here to help out.”
Once decisions have been made, customers can better visualize their design plans on a big screen TV in the viewing area.
“We use a CAD program,” Judi says of their computer-aided drafting software.
The Remodeling & Design Center also houses a few local and small vendors the Haicks have tried and trusted over their long history in the business.
“It helps our customers have a multitude of choices,” Judi says.
One preferred vendor the Haicks use is a central Illinois Amish cabinet manufacturer.
And while Craig and his team have a stellar reputation of quality work, it is Judi’s behind-the-scenes organizing that keeps business running smoothly.
“A remodel of any size is an interruption in our customers’ life, especially if it is a kitchen or a bathroom,” Judi explains. “Having everything ordered and ready to go helps keep the job moving along.”
Visit the showroom or call 630-369-3033 for a consultation and estimate. Local vendors also are welcome to introduce their products and services.
Jim Hughes, a Naperville resident since 2000, opened City Wide of Illinois on June 2 to service the maintenance needs of small to mid-scale properties and buildings.
“One invoice, one contact point,” says Hughes, president.
City Wide is a commercial property maintenance company founded in 1961, and has set itself apart from similar companies by the pure breadth of services it offers, represented in more than U.S. regions.
“The magic we do is not just to help the client,” he adds. “Our clients appreciate that we remove their daily building maintenance obstacles by providing solutions that allow them to focus on their core business. Our services are tailored to fit the needs of our clients’ buildings, tenants and budgets.”
Customers can pick and choose from an array of services, starting with regular needs such as window washing to restocking janitorial supplies, to more seasonal services such as snow removal and parking lot repairs.
City Wide of Illinois already is servicing car dealers, churches, medical facilities, industrial warehouses and buildings in the range of 10,000 to 100,000 square feet.
“We help businesses grow by taking away some time-consuming maintenance tasks,” says Hughes.
Giving back to the community is also important to Hughes, who actively helps the Wounded Heroes Foundation and Naperville’s Our Children’s Homestead.
