Police Blotter: Brothers get into fight over religion

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Vehicular damage: Between 2:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., vehicle damaged while parked in lot of apartment complex on 1600 block of Westminster Drive.

Sunday, Aug. 24

Driving under the influence: Gerardo Gonzalez-Juarez, 39, Oswego; 12:10 a.m. near Diehl Road and Country Club Boulevard; charged with DUI, operating motor vehicle while using electronic communication device, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving without a valid registration.

Fleeing police: Louis Colemon, 66, Glendale Heights; 1:07 a.m. near Meridian Parkway and Route 59, Aurora; charged with fleeing and eluding police and speeding in construction zone.

DUI: Jacqueli L. Fletcher, 26, Montgomery; 1:36 a.m. near Ogden Avenue and Washington Street; charged with DUI.

DUI: Damardre L. Thomas, 24, Elgin; 1:54 a.m. near Chicago Avenue and Columbia Street; charged with DUI/drugs.

Vehicular burglaries: Between 10 p.m. Aug. 23 and 9:24 a.m., two unlocked vehicles entered and rummaged through while parked outside two homes on 600 block of South Sleight Street; ignition also tampered with on one vehicle; nothing stolen in either case.

Unlicensed driver: About 12:37 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without a license, following three-vehicle traffic crash at Jefferson and Ogden avenues.

Domestic quarrel: About 3:21 p.m., police were called to home on 2200 block of Glouceston Lane, where “brothers fought (in) dispute on religion;” report provided no further information.

Theft: Between noon Aug. 23 and 6 p.m. today, two bicycles stolen from patio of apartment on 1400 block of Fairway Drive.

Drunken pedestrian: About 9:45 p.m., unidentified, “intoxicated pedestrian made contact with a passing vehicle” near Meadow Lake Drive and Naper Boulevard; report provided no further information.

Monday, Aug. 25

Shoplifting: About 4:21 a.m., unidentified male or female “found to have unpaid-for merchandise concealed in backpack,” after spending hour inside Jewel-Osco, 1227 S. Naper Blvd.; report did not indicate whether shoplifter was arrested.

Theft: Manager of unidentified warehouse on 1200 block of Frontenac Road reported between 5 p.m. Aug. 23 and 6:30 a.m. today, 150 “topper” pallets with total estimated value of $1,850 stolen from premises.

Theft: Between 3 p.m. Aug. 22 and 8:15 a.m. today, unspecified amount of electrical wiring belonging to Tri-Tech Electric Inc. of Romeoville stolen from area of 95th Street extension project, 95th Street and Eagle Brook Lane.

Vehicular burglary: Between 9 p.m. Aug. 24 and 9 a.m., “possibly unlocked vehicle” entered while parked outside home on 500 block of East Hillside Road; prescription medication dumped inside vehicle and empty vials stolen, along with $15 in loose coins and “possibly some bank statements.”

Fire department assistance: About 11:39 a.m., police assisted Naperville Fire Department near Quincy and Ogden avenues, as firefighters extinguished vehicular fire.

Theft: About 5:19 p.m., police were called to unidentified business on 800 block of South Route 59, where unidentified “employee admitted to theft of food and (money) from tip jar, but denied stealing from register during her employment;” employee was then fired.

Gasoline theft: About 7:47 p.m., unidentified motorist pumped $20.02 worth of gas into tank of gray, four-door Nissan at Delta Sonic Car Wash, 1780 North Aurora Road, and then drove away from station without paying for it.
