Naperville police on Saturday were continuing their search for the man who robbed another man of his wallet at gunpoint near a popular movie theater.
No one was injured during the holdup, which police Cmdr. Ken Parcel said occurred about 4:10 p.m. Friday in a parking lot at 352 S. Route 59. That is the address of the Hollywood Palms Cinema, on the city’s far west side.
The robbery victim told police he was walking through the lot “when he was approached by the suspect, who displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet,” Parcel wrote in a release. The victim complied with the robber’s orders.
Parcel said the victim and witnesses said the gunman then ran to and got inside a waiting car, which then left the area by way of Route 59.
The robber was described as being a black man in his early 20s. He stood 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, weighed between 220 and 240 pounds, and was wearing “all dark clothing,” Parcel said.
He added the getaway car was described only as being a black, four-door sedan having an Illinois license plate.
Witnesses to the stickup, or those who believe they have information about the case, are asked to call the Naperville Crime Stoppers tip line at 630-420-6006. Callers can remain anonymous.
