Chocoholics no longer need to despair. ‘The “healthiest chocolate in the world” is not just a fun slogan, but a statement Cathy Bouchard, owner of le Chocolat du Bouchard in Naperville, stands behind.

“Chocolate is not chocolate. There should only be five ingredients that go into quality chocolate: cocao (cocoa powder, cocoa butter) sugar, vanilla and soy lecithin,” clarifies a very passionate Bouchard.

She said the simple formula helps reap the most antioxidant benefits. Cocao, pronounced Ka-kow, is the tree, its pods and the beans, with cocoa powder and butter being the byproducts.

“Adding dairy or even blueberries nullifies the effects,” she goes on to claim.

Bouchard developed The Chocolate Regimen to bring the health benefits of quality dark chocolate to her customers. For best results she recommends staying on the “diet” for at least six weeks.

“Each morning, before eating or drinking anything else, you eat two oval half ounce pieces. It’s a mini meal loaded with 512 nutrients. No other food has that many or even close,” said Bouchard about the plan.

Customers have noticed reduced symptoms for a variety of ailments, including rheumatoid arthritis, depression, migraines and high blood pressure.

“I learned about the magic of chocolate on myself. I was severely ill. Fibromyalgia, migraines, I could hardly move. I was ready to try anything and came across chocolate,” Bouchard said.

The Chocolate Regimen is sold in a nine-piece sampler, a two-week pack for $23.95 and a discounted six-week course.

New customers can stop in any time during opening hours for a free sample at 129 S. Washington St.

in downtown Naperville. Just ask for “the healthy chocolate.”
