Monday, Feb. 3
Driving under the influence: Brian R. Hacker, 36, Lisle; 1:09 a.m. near 75th Street and Book Road; charged with DUI, driving on wrong side of four-lane highway, improper parking on roadway and two counts making improper left turn.
Burglary: A 50-year-old man reported between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m., burglars apparently used automatic garage door opener taken from unlocked Volkswagen Jetta in driveway, and then looted Jetta and garage of home on 5000 block of Switch Grass Lane; stolen property included two bicycles, bag full of hockey equipment, hockey stick, two baseball bats, pair of inline skates, gray Columbia jacket and blue, heavy-duty plastic bin containing jumper cables and flashlight.
Driving too fast: A 31-year-old man reported about 5:44 a.m., his vehicle struck large “boulder” made of snow in roadway near 87th Street and Wehrli Road; man not hurt, vehicle damaged, motorist charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.
No insurance: Unidentified motorist reported about 11:23 a.m., “he was trying to get home from dropping off his grandma at a doctor’s and was speeding” when he lost control of vehicle on curve, ran off roadway, struck snowbank and destroyed wooden mailbox and mounting post outside home on 1200 block of Redfield Road; vehicle then hit large tree in parkway, “leaving it undamaged but vehicle destroyed;” motorist unhurt; charged with driving without insurance.
Shoplifting: Between 12:45 and 1:15 p.m., and for at least fourth time, “high-end” dog collars and pet containment fencing stolen from unidentified business on 700 block of Fort Hill Drive; shoplifter described as being white man in late 20s or early 30s, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, with average build and brown hair; man last seen wearing blue jeans, red hoodie and brown, mid-length coat.
No insurance: About 3:29 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without insurance, after 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier made right turn from exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 88 onto southbound Route 59 and rear-ended stopped, semi-tractor trailer truck; no injuries reported.
Suspended license: Richard S. Bell, 26, North Aurora; 3:50 p.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving scene of accident involving vehicle damage; also wanted on a warrant.
No insurance: About 4:21 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without insurance on 800 block of South Route 59.
Unlicensed driver: Edwyn R. Diaz, 28, 0-99 block of Testa Drive; 4:42 p.m. near Ogden Avenue and River Road; charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and improper overtaking of other vehicle on left.
No insurance: About 5:56 p.m., unidentified motorist charged with driving without insurance, following two-vehicle traffic crash near Ogden Avenue and Naperville-Wheaton Road; no injuries reported.
Vehicle damage: A 43-year-old woman reported sometime between Feb. 1 and 6:24 p.m. today, tires damaged on vehicle parked on 1100 block of West Ogden Avenue.
Stolen vehicle: A 32-year-old woman reported between 11:50 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., vehicle stolen while parked on 1000 block of East Warrenville Road; report provided no further information.
DUI: Emmanuel A. Olieh, 33, Aurora; 7:34 p.m. near Aurora Avenue and Route 59; charged with DUI and illegal passing on right.
Tuesday, Feb. 4
Theft: A 31-year-old man reported sometime before 11:40 a.m., unspecified amount of money stolen from wallet inside unidentified business on 2700 block of West 75th Street.
Theft: A 44-year-old woman reported between 12:30 and 2 p.m., cell phone stolen from vehicle outside unidentified place where she works on 3000 block of 103rd Street.
Hit-and-run: Unidentified motorist reported about 2:05 p.m., he attempted to exit Speedway service station at North Aurora Road and Route 59, and drive south on Route 59, when his vehicle was hit by unidentified vehicle; impact caused first vehicle to spin and hit third vehicle, which then hit fourth vehicle; no injuries reported; driver and second vehicle fled from scene; first motorist ticketed for making improper exit from private driveway.
Suspended license: Ricardo Garcia, 33, Bolingbrook; 3:42 p.m. near Green Trails Drive and Naper Boulevard; charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to wear a seat belt and speeding; also wanted on two warrants.
Deer versus vehicle: Unidentified motorist told police about 5:22 p.m., deer bounded in front of vehicle and was struck near Rock River Court and Washington Street; vehicle damaged; driver unhurt; fate of deer not provided in report.
DUI: John H. Jolly, 31, Aurora; 10:45 p.m. on 300 block of West Ogden Avenue; charged with two counts DUI, one count disobeying a traffic signal and a vehicular lighting violation.
